ATLAS import: Trade in goods with New Zealand (free trade agreement)

At the beginning of April, we reported that the free trade agreement between the EU and New Zealand will come into force earlier than planned, namely on May 1, 2024 (see AWB News of April 3, 2024). With the "New Zealand European Union Free Trade Agreement (NZ-EUFTA)", all goods originating in the EU can be imported into New Zealand duty-free. In return, almost all goods of New Zealand origin can be imported into the EU duty-free. There are exceptions in the agricultural sector.

As announced by the Federal Information Technology Center in an ATLAS message, reduced duty rates can be applied for and applied under the free trade agreement between the EU and New Zealand from 1 May 2024 if a specific certificate is declared and the "present" indicator is transmitted. These are the certificates "U 120", "U121" and "U 122". The reduced tax rates can be applied for with a three-digit benefit code beginning with the number "3".
