Belarus: EU imposes further sanctions

The EU has also imposed far-reaching sanctions on Belarus. The reason is Belarus' support for Russian aggression against Ukraine.

The restrictive measures in view of acts undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, which now apply to a total of 702 persons and 53 entities, include the freezing of assets and the prohibition to provide funds to the listed persons and entities. In addition, an entry ban prevents the listed persons from entering and transiting the territory of the EU.

In addition, the Council decided to impose further trade restrictions on Belarus for goods used in the manufacture or processing of tobacco products, mineral fuels, bituminous substances and gaseous hydrocarbons, potassium chloride (potash), wood products, cement products, iron and steel products and rubber products.

Further restrictions have also been introduced on the export of dual-use goods and technologies and certain advanced goods and technologies that could contribute to the military, technological and defence and security development of Belarus, as well as restrictions on the provision of related services.
