Best practices for the effective implementation of restrictive measures

The European Union has published a document describing best EU practices for the effective implementation of restrictive measures.

The document contains the key elements regarding the implementation of sanctions, taking into account the specific situation within the legal systems of the European Union.

EU best practices are described under the following main headings:

• Designation and identification of persons and entities subject to targeted restrictive measures,
• Restrictive financial measures,
• prohibitions on the provision of goods,
• Coordination and cooperation.

The document is an updated version (as of 27 June 2022). The EU intends to continuously revise the "EU Best Practices for the effective implementation of restrictive measures", in particular to complement best practices in the implementation of restrictive measures.
