EU: "Single Window Procedure" for Customs published

With the "Single Window Procedure", the EU wants to create a procedure that enables companies in the EU to submit necessary documents for customs clearance via a single portal. Until now, this was only possible via different authorities. The final text establishing the Single Window environment was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 09.12.2022 (L 317/1).

The single window environment is expected to significantly speed up the clearance of goods. According to the EU, the administrative burden for economic operators is to be reduced, in particular through more automated clearance.

In future, all competent authorities at the EU's external borders should have electronic access to the relevant data and be able to cooperate more easily during border controls.
