On 02.04.2022, the notifiability of the destination country code "EU" will be terminated. This can be seen in an ATLAS information.
The code "EU" has been declared admissible in the data field "Destination code" for migration purposes. However, only the ISO alpha-2 codes according to Annex 1A of the Information Sheet on Customs Declarations, Summary Declarations and Re-export Notifications or the EDI-IHB Code List A1314 are allowed in the data field "Country of destination code".
The Federal Information Technology Centre points out the following:
As the declaration of the code "EU" leads to problems within the interface to the tax authorities of the other member states, it is to be ensured that from now on the code "EU" is no longer declared in the data field "country of destination code" and only the aforementioned permissible codes are used.
