Authorized Economic Operator („AEO”) status is a recognised seal of quality. It signifies outstanding reliability and extends far beyond the sphere of customs law. The AEO is also one of the central pillars of customs law in the Union Customs Code (UCC). This legislation contains all of the AEO’s procedural rules governing the issue, administration, notification duties, supervision as well as suspension and re-assessment which form the basis for all decisions relating to customs law. On the other hand, some provisions in the UCC refer to the AEO authorization and deem holders as satisfying certain conditions. There are even some authorizations which can only be granted to AEOs. Depending on the complexity of the corporate structure involved, the process of lodging an application and making the necessary organisational changes may prove to be extremely complicated and time-consuming.
The AWB team can optimise your company before it lodges the application for Authorized Economic Operator. We examine the authorisation requirements, analyse potential risks in terms of customs law, identify interrelationships in the application and produce a tailor-made concept designed to minimise risk. If you wish, we can also communicate with the competent Main Customs Office (MCO) on your behalf.
Once the authorization has been granted, the company must maintain its AEO status. Accordingly, the customs administration requires customs processes to be continuously monitored: taking into account your daily business, this task should not be underestimated. The AWB team helps your company integrate continuous self-assessment into internal operations, thereby ensuring that it maintains AEO status.
The AWB has developed an exclusive software tool (AEO Manager) to help with the application and the monitoring process. It enables you to manage the AEO application process in detail, process each section of the self-assessment step-by-step and display the monitoring process comprehensively and clearly.
