On 11 March 2024, two EU regulations came into force that are also relevant for transit declarations:
Regulation (EU) 2024/573 on fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases)
Regulation (EU) 2024/590 on ozone-depleting substances (ODS)
An ATLAS info sheet provides information on certain codes that must be specified in the transit declaration (E_DEP_DAT) if they apply to the goods to be transported under the transit procedure. These codes can be entered in the transit declaration under ‘Document’ or ‘Other reference’.
• ‘Document’ → Code lists: I0923, I0925, I0926
• ‘Other reference’ → Code lists: I0913, I0915, I0916
Notes on specification
The codes that must be specified in the transit declaration are marked with an asterisk (*) in column 1, provided they are relevant to the imported goods. The other codes available for the declaration can be provided optionally.
Recommendation: Code even if not affected
Since goods that are affected and goods that are not affected are often declared under the same commodity code in the F-Gas/ODS area, it is helpful for customs clearance to indicate that the regulations do not apply.
• Y160 = Goods are not covered by the F-Gas Regulation
• Y792 = Goods are not covered by the ODS Regulation
This avoids unnecessary queries and significantly speeds up the clearance process.
