The ATA Carnet can also be issued for Peru as of April 30, 2024. Peru is thus the 79th member state to join the ATA Convention. ATA carnets are accepted by Peruvian customs for goods intended for exhibitions, trade fairs, congresses or similar events, as well as for professional equipment.
The ATA carnet is a customs transit document that enables the temporary duty-free importation of goods; it is suitable for goods that are temporarily imported into the country and are to leave the country again after their intended use. The prerequisite is that the goods are re-imported into the EU in an unchanged condition.
The Lima Chamber of Commerce is responsible for issuing the ATA Carnet. In Germany, it is issued by the local Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). It is valid for one year.
Saudi Arabia and the Philippines will also introduce the Carnet ATA system shortly, according to the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
