Arms Export Policy of the Federal Government 2021

In 2021, the former German government approved arms exports for €9.35 billion [billion = „in German Milliarde“] (pro rata: €4.2 billion war weapons and €5.1 billion other military goods). In the previous year 2020, the value of approved arms exports was €5.82 billion.

By far the largest buyer country of German military equipment last year was Egypt: Arms exports worth €4.34 billion went there.

According to the press release of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, the largest buyer countries of German arms after Egypt include the USA, the Netherlands, Singapore, Australia, the United Kingdom and South Korea.
