AWV changes from January 2025

The Deutsche Bundesbank is providing information on changes to foreign trade reporting that came into force on 1 January 2025. The aim of the changes is to reduce the administrative burden and standardise reporting processes.

The reporting thresholds will be raised in order to reduce the burden on small and medium-sized enterprises and private households in particular. This means that reporting is mandatory for transactions with a value of EUR 50,000 or more.

Previously optional fields on the key figures of the German group will become mandatory fields. This concerns information on the balance sheet total, annual turnover and the number of employees.

In order to simplify compliance with the reporting deadlines, the reporting dates will be standardised. From the reporting month of January 2025, the 7th working day will be the standardised deadline for submitting transaction reports, regardless of the type of transaction. From this date, the 15th working day will be the deadline for submitting reports on holdings of receivables and liabilities.

The previous paper forms will be replaced by so-called survey charts, which are expected to be available in the General Statistics Reporting Portal (AMS) from mid-2025.

Further changes concern new key figures for crypto values as well as changes in travel and maritime shipping.
