13th EU sanctions package against Russia published

To mark the second anniversary of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, the EU has adopted a 13th package of sanctions. The sanctions were published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 23.02.2024.

The 13th sanctions package mainly contains personal sanctions. A total of 194 additional persons, organizations and entities are included in the sanctions list. In addition to financial sanctions such as the freezing of assets, the EU is also imposing entry bans to the European Union.

Contrary to previous reports, the 13th sanctions package also includes (a few) new goods-related restrictions relating to Annex VII Part B and Annex XXIII. New export, sales, supply and transfer bans were introduced for certain components.

With regard to import bans on iron and steel, the United Kingdom has been added to the list of partner countries for which no proof of origin is required in certain cases.
