EU import ban on products from forced labor

In future, the European Union will ban trade in products manufactured using forced labor.

On March 5, the European Parliament and the Council reached a provisional agreement on new regulations that will ban products made using forced labor from the EU market. The new regulations are intended to make it possible to ban the import of such goods. The provisional agreement still has to be approved and formally adopted by the EU Parliament and the Council. The regulation will then be published in the Official Journal and enter into force the following day.

Economic operators will have to prepare for further due diligence obligations to prevent forced labor along the entire supply chain. The aim of the new legal framework is to combat forced labor worldwide.
